Mr. Walters concentrates his practice in Houston County. This gives him local knowledge that allows him to maximize his representation.
A cum laude graduate of the top ranked George Mason School of Law, Wayne Walters has extensive experience as a trial lawyer all over Texas and Virginia.
He began working cases while still in law school in Fairfax County where he donated his time to help those who could not afford legal representation.
Following law school, he joined a small private firm in Leesburg where he focused on divorce, landlord tenant law, contract disputes, business formation and criminal defense work. Mr. Walters then went on to gain invaluable experience at the Loudoun County Public Defender’s Office where he concentrated on purely criminal defense and defended thousands of criminal cases ranging from simple traffic infractions to double murder. Mr. Walter’s caseload concentrated on DUI / DWI’s, Reckless Driving, drug possession and distribution, assault and battery, domestic violence and property crimes. During this time, Mr. Walters was in Court everyday and developed several beneficial working relationships with the prosecutors and the courthouse staff.
Mr. Walters then established his private practice in Northern Virginia. He understands that clients are people and strives to keep his clients informed, to answer every question and to make them as comfortable as possible. By taking the time to understand the uniqueness of each client’s situation Mr. Walters is able to customize his representation to maximize the results.
In 2010, Mr. Walters moved to Houston, Texas.
Mr. Walters prides himself on being available to his clients. To that end early, after hours and weekend appoints are available at no extra cost. He can be reached by email virtually 24/7 to answer any questions or concerns his clients may have.
Mr. Walters devotes the majority of his practice to general criminal and traffic defense. He regularly appears in courts throughout Houston on behalf of his clients. In his criminal defense practice, he has represented those accused of virtually every crime including: DUI / DWI, assault, domestic assault, property crimes, larceny, drug possession offenses, drug distribution offenses, reckless driving, speeding infractions, weapons offenses, violent crimes, bad checks, forgery and fraud. Mr. Walker also has extensive experience providing criminal representation to juveniles.
In addition to criminal defense, Mr. Walters has an active civil practice in which he represents individuals and businesses on a variety of matters including: contract formation and disputes, landlord/tenant issues, debt collections, formal business formations and every aspect of family law.
Mr. Walters is a member of the County Bar association where he plays an active role in the state and county. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the American Bar Association. Mr. Walters is also member of the Houston chapter of Beat the Odds, an organization that works to provide scholarships to high school students who have overcome adversity in their lives.
Mr. Walters is certified to handle felony, misdemeanor and serious juvenile criminal cases by the Indigent Defense Commission.
